Coming Out of the Jean Closet
Filed Under My Life | 12 Comments
I have been inspired by Jake over at Livin’ It Up In Arkansas to come out of the jean closet. Yes, it’s true confession time. You may remember a few months back I confessed that one of my favorite authors was western writer Louis L’Amour. Well I guess this could be called Part 2 of my “Cowboy Clothing Confession”. Alright, here we go. This is a picture of the
favorite pair of jeans I own.

If you can’t see the label from the picture, here is a closeup. Yes, they are the classic Wrangler Cowboy Cut jean, unchanged since they were first made in 1947. Why do I like them you may ask. Well, when I’m working on something outside, around the house, etc. you can bend over without pulling a “plumber butt”. They ride up high. I guess this makes sense for me because my kids have been telling me I wear my pants too high for years. I also like them because they last a long time and they are inexpensive.
So, what does a man wear with his Wrangler Cowboy cut jeans? Tennis shoes? NO Flip-flops? WHAT! Wing tips? YEAH, RIGHT. No, a real man wears western boots. Not the fake ones with zippers on the side, I’m talking about a real manly work b
oot. So, here’s a picture of my manly boot of choice. The Branson Roper by Rocky Boots. Honestly, I have to say it is without a doubt the most comfortable footwear I own. There you have it ladys and gents, my Cowboy Clothing Confession. Yee Haw!

Horsing Around With Matthew
Filed Under My Life | 4 Comments
Susan and I watched Matthew and Samuel for a little while this evening while Evan showed their house to a couple who was interested in buying it. Matthew and I went outside to feed our neighbors horses. Actually, the horses are the neighbors because the guy who owns them doesn’t live next to us. He has been struggling with some issues in his life so he doesn’t take care of them like he should so I bought some feed and feed them twice a day and make sure they have fresh water. He brings hay out when I call him. The mare is pregnant and is about to deliver. Anyway, Matthew and I had a great time feeding them. I love spending time with him, he’s so curious, smart, and well spoken. Hmmmm, takes after his papa(me) I guess.

The Hit Man
Filed Under My Life | 4 Comments
We had the greate
st Valentines get-together at the church last Saturday Night. It was a 70’s “disco” theme night. The drama ministry put on a “mystery dinner theater” drama and we had an awesome meal catered in. I downloaded some music to use for the night, a combination of some real seventies music and some Apologetix remakes of classic hits of the 70’s. I picked up some shirts on ebay and we shopped some secondhand stores for other stuff. I almost started having flashbacks listening to the music and wearing that tight polyester. The highlight of my night was winning the best costume award for the men. I was told my outfit either looked like a Cuban hit man or a Columbian drug lord. There is also a video floating around somewhere of me doing the Hustle that night. Susan came as Farrah Fawcett. We made quite a pair!

Happy Birthday!
Filed Under My Life | 5 Comments
Yes folks today is Jessica Fletcher’s 22nd birthday. No, not the Jessica Fletcher of television mystery fame, it’s the Jessica Fletcher of Alma Tractor fame. As the proud father-in-law I found this video that I want to dedicate to Jessica in remembrance of all those years on the farm. Happy Birthday Jess!
