A Few Random Thoughts
Filed Under My Life | 6 Comments
Before getting into the random thoughts I should let you know we got in from the UK on Saturday evening. The flight from Atlanta was rough. Really rough the last half. Thank you Lord for Dramamine. Only one person in our group lost their cookies. Well not just the cookies but the burrito also. It’s great to be back!
Now, on the the random (or maybe not so random thoughts)
- Susan and I have decided we need to be more purposeful in taking vacations. Haven’t really had one for about 4 years.
- When a dog barks, growls and flinches while they are dreaming did you ever wonder what they are dreaming?
- Why is the government talking about bailing out people who made stupid choices in home loans? Should the government bail me out of every stupid choice I make?
- Why do little kids think when they hide their face you can’t see them?
- What do they do with the pulp from pulpless OJ, put it in the extra pulp OJ?
- Why do dentists ask you a question when they have their hands in your mouth?
- Why do so many male names in the south have ie or y added on the end (Bill - Billy, Ron - Ronnie, etc.)?
- I’m convinced that in the south peanut oil is considered one of the basic food groups.
- The older you get the faster time goes by.
- Grandkids are really cool!

Boy In The Bubbles aka A Bubble Tsunami!

I have to admit I’m a proud grandfather. I’ve talked to other grandparents and I would have to say the feeling is mutual. One of the reasons I have heard concerning why it’s great to be a grandparent is you can enjoy them and then hand them back to the parents. I agree with that with this caveat - I think you enjoy them more because you are much more calm and mellow with your grandkids than you were with your own kids. Being on the other side of raising our own kids has made me really appreciate my grandkids. I really savor the time I have with them. I think if we are truly honest with ourselves there are things we look back on concerning our children and wish we had spent a little more time enjoying certain things that at the time you don’t really appreciate. With the grandkids we know what’s coming, we’ve been through it before, we can truly appreciate those first steps, the funny things they say and do, etc. Enough gab, here’s a picture of our grandson Matthew in our whirlpool tub. We had been outside playing frisbee and he got a little dirty so we put him in the tub to get a bath. Of course we had to put a little bubble bath in there. Our tub has a bubble feature where air bubbles come up from little holes in the bottom of the tub. Bubble bath + air bubbles = a Bubble Tsunami!

I need some help everyone. We are trying to decide how to outfit the ushers at our church and it’s come down to these two outfits. We really want to be on the “cutting edge” in ministry all the way down to how our ushers are dressed. As you can see by the pictures one of the models
is wearing what I would consider a Gilligan’s Island Thurston Howell the III business casual look. Gotta love t
hose Sansabelt slacks with the 9 inch waistband. Our other nominee is definitely going casual with the spray paint on Amoeba Camo polyester jumpsuit look. When you comment let me know why you prefer one over the other. This sounds like it’s going to be totally groovy guys and gals!

Baked Beanelzebub

When I found the “Catsup” pictures I also found this. As soon as I saw this picture a story immediately formed in my mind. Here’s the Readers Digest version. A seven year old boy has been tormented for most of his young life by his three older brothers. On a family camping trip all four boys are sleeping in one small tent. Young Beanelzebub gets an idea. A night of payback for all the years of harassment. “Sure Mom, I’ll finish up those beans” he says with an evil glint in his eye. After some roasted marsh
mellows around the campfire Mom and Dad send the boys off to their tent. Young Beanelzebub drifts off to sleep listening to the crickets chirp, the frogs croak, and……………….
